London Canal Museum

The museum tells the story of London's canals, their people, cargoes, boats and trade. Set in a charming waterside former ice warehouse, it also explains the Victorian trade in natural ice, brought from Norway to be stored and distributed by horse and cart. Two huge ice walls are beneath the floor and one can be viewed. See inside a narrowboat cabin and learn about the living conditions of the boating population. Discover the mainstay of London's goods transport - the horse. Our recreated stable and Horse Power exhibition tells its story.
