A Cheap and Cheerful Day Out In London

This day out in London will take you far and wide, without costing you a fortune.

Free Travel on the London Underground

Depending on how old you are, travelling on London transport goes from very reasonable to free, so it's worth checking www.tfl.gov.uk for details.

Have a Magical Morning in Kensington Gardens

Start the day with some fresh air. Inspired by the stories of Peter Pan, the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens is magical. Able and less able-bodied children are encouraged to explore, dash about and play in the sensory trail, tepees, giant wooden pirate ship and beach – free of charge.

Take a Bus to the Middle East

Next, hop on the 94, 148 or 390 bus and travel up the road to Marble Arch. Hop off and walk up Edgware Road. Are you still in central London? Locals refer to this area as Little Beirut or Little Cairo because of it's buzzing, colourful Middle Eastern atmosphere.

Shops, cafés and restaurants line the street and it's top place for a cheap lunch. We recommend Maroush Gardens and Meya Meya. Then back to Marble Arch and it's all aboard the number 6 bus.

An Afternoon at London's Transport Museum

On the subject of transport, leave the number 6 at the Aldwych and walk up the road to The London Transport Museum on Wellington Street. Acknowledged as one of London's most child-friendly museums, with its interactive displays, kidzones, actors and simulators, the London Transport Museum is a real crowd pleaser.

Free London Street Performance

You are now behind Covent Garden so simply walk up to the Piazza find a comfy spot and enjoy the hustle, bustle and amazing street performers – who work the crowds for donations only.
